One Hundred Percent Rebel Time Lord

Here's another digital piece, this time featuring Twelve and some Gallifreyan. The Gallifreyan says: "No frills, no scarf, no messing. Just 100%" and the bottom continues the quote with "Rebel Time Lord." Corel Photo-Paint X5. Took a little less than an hour.

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Food

So for the 50th Anniversary of "Doctor Who" I went the whole nine yards and made a pasta salad and tons of desserts!

Firstly, the salad is a bowtie pasta salad from here. I used provolone cheese, green peppers, pepperoni, cherry tomato halves, and zesty Italian dressing.

Next I made some standard cut-out cookies. There's the eleven doctors, John Hurt's Doctor, and a guess at what Twelve's costume will look like. As you can see, John Hurt's Doctor was wounded in the Time War after falling from the counter :-(. I'm aware some of the details are off: Ten should have converse and the colors on Six's coat are wrong, but it was getting late and I was tired.

I also made some Seal of Rassilon cookies, which are harder to frost than they look.

Easier to make are the Gallifreyan writing cookies, which say "Fifty Years of Doctor Who" in Gallifreyan, using the method here.

Then I made some chocolate cupcakes. The Dalek designs and a printable pdf are available here.

I frosted the rest of the cupcakes and made them the space-time vortex. I put some half chocolate TARDISes on the tops of some of them.

I also made some ice cubes from the same tray. EX-TER-MIN-ATE!

And of course there's fish fingers and custard. The custard is just regular vanilla pudding, but the fish fingers are an ingenious cookie recipe available here.

Gallifreyan Books and Bookends

A selection of books that I figured the Doctor might have, with Gallifreyan bookends. I made it using Corel PhotoPaint, trying to figure out brush types, etc. No reference (except for book names), entirely digital, no scanning involved. The books are as follows:

Black Orchid (by George Cranleigh): the Fifth Doctor received this book as a gift at the end of "Black
        Orchid".
Book of Rassilon: Initially I was going to do the book the Professor lost in "Shada" (4th Doctor), but by the
        time I had looked up the actual name, I'd already given it this name. And every Time Lord needs
        something "... of Rassilon"!
TARDIS Journal: the one Eleven uses to record his and River's adventures.
The New Universe: these three I entirely invented, seemed like he might have a couple spacey books on
        hand from his University days that he'd forgotten to throw away.
Journal of Impossible Things: not the one the chameleon-arched Ten writes, but rather the one that Joan
        Redfern's great-granddaughter publishes in The End of Time, one of which Ten buys and gets signed.
The Complete Poetry of John Milton: according to the novelization of "Logopolis", Four gives Adric this
        book to read while he's busy (fiddling with the TARDIS, etc.)
Flight in the Space/Time Vortex (by Romanaveractalunda): another one I made up, just seemed like
        Romana (companion of Four) would write some technical book like that. :-)

Gallifrey Painting

This is a painting I did just a few weeks ago. Done in oil, using a wet-on-wet method. This involves layering the entire canvas with liquid black before other colors can be added. However, once you have liquid black, getting just about any amount of brightness is exceedingly difficult. I got around this problem by taping off the planet with painter's tape layered over itself and then cut circularly with a compass/knife. Once I was done with the background, I peeled off the tape, applied liquid white, and then painted the planet. I painted this with Gallifrey (planet of the Time Lords, Doctor Who) in mind, and as you can see, I added the name alongside it. This is about the best I can paint right now, so comments are welcome!
